Covid 19 can bring up a lot of mixed emotions. For me, I am reminded of the struggles of taking care of my 85-year-old grandmother who suffers from diabetes. It is tough to have the same access to healthcare like we did just six months ago. Diabetes is the root to my grandmother’s other illness. Many people like my grandmother and their loved ones are learning to navigate through this pandemic. When my grandmother was admitted to the hospital because of kidney failure, she was alone and scared and it was difficult not being able to be by her side. There was a language barrier, so this put more anxiety on her when she was in there for four weeks. Now medical transportation is problematic, if my grandmother doesn’t go to dialysis it set her back on her progress. It costs $600 to request private transportation for the day. To most people this too expensive. If it wasn’t for tele-medicine and technology guiding me, I do not know if I would have to been able to help my grandmother. My grandmother is one story out of thousands that are struggling through this pandemic.
